On the IFA 2010 in Berlin Philips introduced
the Airfryer, a revolutionary cooking device
for preparing food in a fast and healthy way.
Another great moment for Philips, but also
for APDS. As it happens the Rapid Air
Technology on which it is based was invented
by Fred van der Weij, director of APDS.
APDS has more than 20 years experience in
creation of new products for their clients.
This is the first self initiated project entirely
based on own observations.
The adoption of this technology by Philips,
one of the biggest companies in kitchen
appliances in the world, is a milestone for
APDS. With Philips the Rapid Air Technology
evolved to maturity, now is will benefit people on a worldwide scale.
For this project we had to use a very wide approach. Starting with a new technology and ending with a series of designs and prototypes for possible new products. That's an approach we will follow more in the future.
APDS now mainly operates as a creative lab that constantly invests in creation of new technologies and product concepts. For this project we partnered with BBDG in The Hague, specialized in business development. They were very important in getting the right parties involved. They also made a perfect translation of new product concept into a solid business case. This project was supported by the EU for the potentially big positive impact on health, safity, environment and economy.
