PORTFOLIO
Here's a selection of products APDS has developed during the last 10 years for a number of different companies.
Most projects were performed as main contractor, some as subcontractor, many in cooperartion with various partners.
C50 Coffee making machine
The C50 coffee machine is a state of the art machine that can produce several hot drinks in an elegant way. The C50 is the coffee machine with the lowest downtime ever put on the the market by Sara Lee/ Douwe Egberts. This is the ultimate proof of a well performed development task.
An APDS project team of three man has developed this machine in close cooperation with the manufacturer, the designer and developers of subsystems.
The result is an in many ways distinctive machine with very low maintenance cost, low downtime, great user freindlyness, good cleanability, low production costs, easy assembly, a long life cycle and a high quality appeal.
SENSEO
The Senseo Crema from Philips was the first of e new generation of coffee making appliances. For product developers there is no greater challenge and stimulation than to work on the creation of this kind of innovations. APDS was involved in the development from the first visual model until the production of the first series.
The global success of this concept is off course the ultimate confirmation of the statement that consumers do appreciate innovations that clearly improve things in our daily lifes. We're proud we could have an important part in the creation of this kind of product.
DRAFT BEER COLUMN
The beer column has an lighted strip for dispaying purposes on the front side. This makes column adjustable to different styles and brands. APDS was responsable for good makeability, mountability and functionality during concept development.
Design by Robert Bronwasser
INSECT CATCHER
APDS did the technical and part of the concept development
The Insect Catscher is a nice, functional and affordable product to catch insects without touching or damaging them.
This insect catcher is a good example for optimal combining of form, function and using material properties to the limit. A very thin walled flexible plastic moulded piece forms an easy to slide bottom plane that can be opened by vertical movement of the two 'ears' on the sides. Insects can be catched and moved in an insect friendly way, and can be release without damaging them. An easy to mount handle can be attached to keep your hand on a 'save' distance from the insect and to catch insects on hard to reach places.
This was a co-development project for HG International and was executed together with Smool Design.
TOASTER
This toaster is especially made to make two 'tosties' at the same time: two slices of bread with a filling in between (mostly cheese and ham). The two 'pliers' hold the bread together while being heated by heating elements.
One of the targets for development was to bring down production costs. This was done by bringing down the number af parts and assembly time drastically. The toaster is meant for professional use (catering). Therefor handling, hygiene and robustness were very important.
The retro style with lighted knobs was chosen to fit in this specific market. The modern technical inside was optimised for giving a fast and equal heating and coloring for all sizes of bread.

ADSL MODEM
This modem had to be produced in very large numbers. Design for assembly was the logical approach for development. Assembly time is extremely short. The use of smart moulds makes it possible to produce a large number of variations with the same housing.
The housing and electronics were developed simultaniously. The compact design of the housing and EMC shielding, fitting perfectly around the electronics, made good sharing of information extremely important. All participants and worldwide suppliers could have the right information on the right time and place.
Design by Alfred van Elk
SERIES OF 8 DINNER-TRAYS
The new series of contemporary dinner-trays for a wholesaler of catering equipment had to comply with Gastronorm. Part of the assignment was to find a new way for stacking trays with enough space inbetween for dinner on plates etc.
The demand for fast and easy handling, good hygiene, good washability and attractive design were translated into unique and yet simple solutions. The new range of eight dinner trays, varying in style, size en pupose of use, were developed in a short time, so development cost could stay very low.
Complete development by APDS
DVD PLAYER
This DVD player for the south-east Asian market was developen in the early years of the DVD-Player. The size was more or less dictated by the market of that time. Our task was to translate a new design into an easy to build player and remote control that was to be build in large series in China. The design was adjustable for different markets.
The player has been in production for two years and has beaten all expectations. Simultanious development of housing and electronics in different parts of the world make this a good example of global co-development.

INONIT
The InOnIt is a multifunctional 3 dimensional presenation collumn for presentation and publication of both flat and three dimensional objects. The middle part can be filled with all kinds of objects, it can be provided with light and electrical contacts. The outside surface can be covered with different materials including cork llinoleum, which makes it a 3D notice board that can be seen from all sides.
It can be used in schools, showrooms and fairs. It is used for instance as a central point in the hall of a school for displaying all kinds of things the school wants to show, including working pieces of the children. There different versions and sizes possible that can be 8 or 6 sided. There are many options to customise for different needs. Call for information to APDS.
The InOnIt can be made in several sizes and numerous options. For information please contact APDS.
The InOnIt is developed completely by APDS
HEAT RECOVERY APPLIANCE
This heat recovery appliance is developend for application in combination with a HR furnace. This way it can be very compact so it can be used in a very small space.
The advatages of heat recovery are of course big and can give a substantial saving on heatingcosts. This appliance can be used in many existing situations.
The appliance is buildup with large pieces of a light and strong plastic material that are piled up like blocks. This makes assembly very vast and easy and keep assembly cost low. the filters have to be changed periodically and are easy to reach from the outside.
APDS was resposible for technical development from concept design until production.

POTMOVER
The Potmover is a new moving aid for big pots for plants. Some interesting details make the Potmover adaptable for moving more than just pots. An easy to adjust holding system makes it possible to move pots of all shapes and forms.
This project was performed together with van der Veer Designers for Altrad Fort. APDS was involved from concept develpment until the final prototype.
